Dillons Interview Questions

The following questions are common interview questions for most companies.

How long would you plan to work for the company if hired?  You can turn this question into a fantastic opportunity to let the hiring manager know what your plans are.  This is also a good time to find out how long it takes to grow within the company or if they are willing to work around your school schedule if you are furthering your education.

What is one of your weaknesses that you hope to improve upon?  When talking about one of your weakness, also discuss how you think working for Dillons will help you to improve this weakness.

What are you doing to improve your greatest weakness?  The hiring manager wants to know what steps you have already taken to overcome your obstacles.  Everyone has a weakness or obstacle.  It’s what they do to improve themselves that turns that weakness into your strength.

How important is being organized and keeping a schedule to you?  This may sound like a simple question with a one word answer, but it’s not.  The answer to this question will help the interviewer determine if you are going to keep your section organized and if you will be on time for your schedule and your breaks.

What is your greatest strength and how will it help you in this position?  Now it’s time for you to tell what you can do for the company.  Anything can be considered your strength, such as being friendly, organized and outgoing.  Now tell the hiring manager how you will put your strengths to work for the company.

Advice for Application Process

Before the interview, get prepared.  Do research on the company, make a list of questions to ask the hiring manager, and get your resume together.  Iron the clothes that you plan on wearing, and try to do a practice interview with another person.

On the day of the interview, wear business casual clothes.  This may include a pant suit or skirt suit, being clean shaven, and wearing minimal makeup and jewelry.  Make sure your hair is groomed in a professional manner and use very little, if any, cologne or perfume.

During the interview, keep mind of your non-verbal communication.  Keeping good posture and eye contact without fidgeting gives you an air of confidence, even if you don’t feel it.  Answer the questions in a manner that maximizes your skills and personality.

Show your enthusiasm and ability to perform the tasks that the position demands by answering questions clearly.  Display your customer service capabilities by giving examples from your previous experience.

Always be polite and thank the hiring manager for taking the time to speak with you.  Keep the communication lines open between you and the company for the duration of the hiring process.  If you have not received a follow up on the interview within five business days, then make the first move and contact them.
